On behalf of the Around Long Island Regatta Committee and the Sea Cliff Yacht Club, we hope you and your families are navigating this massive storm while staying safe and healthy.

Since December, the ALIR Committee has met monthly to plan the best ALIR ever.  We have been in contact with U.S. Coast Guard sector, New York Harbor, Liberty Landing Marina, and the Manhattan Yacht Club.  While the only thing we can be sure of lately is change, what hasn’t changed is our teams’ effort to make ALIR 2020 happen!

As you all can imagine, the safety of our racers, their families, spectators and all involved, before, during and after our race, is our first priority, so we must keep that in mind in our decision making through the next month.

We understand how important our race is to you – especially this year – when it could provide the perfect opportunity to get back out on the water, have some fun, and leave the Coronavirus in our wakes.  We know the weight of our decision, unfortunately, re-scheduling is not an option for us.

The Race Committee will be meeting in early May, but at this point, we are still on for ALIR 2020, July 23rd.

Until we see you again, Sail Fast, Be Safe, and Turn Left!

Gov. James F. Aikman

Chairman ALIR Committee
